One of the nation's leading critics of Islam says it's a sign of Great Britain's "cultural confusion and collapse" that a court there would award a Muslim woman $7,800 dollars in damages in her lawsuit against a hair salon owner she claims discriminated against her.

I've just read that article and it makes me very angry. It is unbalanced with the main source being a guy with an anti-muslim agenda who isn't even in the UK. If you go to his website you will see his agenda. It's all about religious intolerance and racial hatred.

In the article he says "If America embarks on a similar course to Britain in accommodation of Islamic law, Spencer believes there will always be more Islamic law to accommodate -- until Americans draw the line, or the U.S. becomes an Islamic state." The purpose of statements like that are to promote ignorance and fear.

And it is wrong. The court ruling was not a result of Britain bowing down to Islamic law. It was a result of Britain bowing down to British law. In Britain it is illegal to discriminate against people on grounds of race or religion. The woman didn't get the job because of her muslim practises, not because she was unable to do the job or because someone else was better qualified. In the UK that is against the law. In that same way that it is illegal for someone to refuse to employ me because I am a Christian, or a woman, or disabled.
