[23:09] <Tigre_bianco> II : who wrote the Bible.

[23:10] <Tigre_bianco> The Bible was written by various authors at different times over

[23:10] <Tigre_bianco> a four thousand year period as they were inspired by the Holy Sprit.

[23:10] <Tigre_bianco> (2 Timothy 3:16 a) All scripture is given by inspiration of God,

[23:10] <Tigre_bianco> III: How many printed English translations are there of the Bible.

[23:11] <Tigre_bianco> Now you're probability thinking somewhere around a hundred

[23:11] <Tigre_bianco> or more.

[23:11] <Tigre_bianco> The Truth is there was only one printed English translation

[23:11] <Tigre_bianco> of the Bible.

[23:11] <Tigre_bianco> That was the Coverdale Bible published by Miles Coverdale

[23:11] <Tigre_bianco> in the year 1535 .

[23:12] <Tigre_bianco> The King James version and all versions after it are

[23:12] <Tigre_bianco> revisions and not translations.

[23:12] <Tigre_bianco> To translate means to take something written in one language and rewrite

[23:12] <Tigre_bianco> it in another language

[23:12] <Tigre_bianco> To revise means to change the wording and/or puncturation of something.

[23:12] <Tigre_bianco> That is the reason that different Bibles are referred to as versions

[23:12] <Tigre_bianco> and not translations.

[23:13] <Tigre_bianco> IV: If the Bible was written by different men, what theme connects the books together.

[23:13] <Tigre_bianco> The main theme which connects all the books of the Bible together

[23:14] <Tigre_bianco> The Bible is to be used for doctrine (teaching) ,reproof ( to show someone where they're wrong),

[23:14] <Tigre_bianco> correction( to correct someone) ,instruction in righteousness ( to teach us how to be

[23:15] <Tigre_bianco> VI: Is the Bible just a book.

[23:15] <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 4:12) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

[23:15] <Tigre_bianco> No the Bible is more then just a book It's the living word of God

[23:16] <Tigre_bianco> VII: Why should we study the Bible.

[23:16] <Tigre_bianco> (2 Timothy 2:15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

[23:16] <Tigre_bianco> A lot of people refer to the Bible as the word of God.

[23:16] <Tigre_bianco> However God did not say every word in the Bible

[23:17] <Tigre_bianco> Some parts are historical or background information

[23:17] <Tigre_bianco> Other parts are the author's view of what was happening

[23:17] <Tigre_bianco> at the time or their view on something.

[23:17] <Tigre_bianco> So we should study

[23:17] <Tigre_bianco> the Bible so that we'll know the context in which it was

[23:17] <Tigre_bianco> written

[23:17] <Tigre_bianco> ...........

[23:18] <Tigre_bianco> (1 Corinthians 7:10) And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:

[23:18] <Tigre_bianco> In the verse above notice the phase yet not I, but the Lord

[23:18] <Tigre_bianco> Paul was letting the reader know that this was something God said.

[23:19] <Tigre_bianco> (1 Corinthians 7:12) But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

[23:19] <Tigre_bianco> In this verse notice the phase speak I, not the Lord:
