Post 01-16-08 Bible study entitled "Deception's of the Devil."

<Tigre_blanc> Tonight's study is entitled "Deception's of the devil"
<Tigre_blanc> In this study , we will look at the different ways that the devil deceives Christians.
<Tigre_blanc> The devil uses the same tactics that he used to tempt Jesus he doesn't change his tactics
<Tigre_blanc> First we'll look at the temptation of Jesus in Matthew 4
<Tigre_blanc> and how the devil uses the tactics to tempt Christians today.
<Tigre_blanc> (Matthew 4:2) And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry.
<Tigre_blanc> (Matthew 4:3) And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God,
<Tigre_blanc> command that these stones be made bread.
<Tigre_blanc> The devil tells you something that at the moment sounds like a good idea but in the long run it isn't.
<Tigre_blanc> You're at work and one of your coworkers tells you " Hey I'm having a big party Saturday night you want to come "
<Tigre_blanc> Then the devil comes to you and says " If you're really a Christian you would go to the party and tell everyone there about God
<Tigre_blanc> because you're suppose to tell others about God"
<Tigre_blanc> Now on the surface it seems like a good idea. However non-Christians have an idea of how Christians are suppose to act.
<Tigre_blanc> And the devil knows if you go to the party on Saturday on Monday the people at the party will be saying "That guy's supposed to be a Christian.
<Tigre_blanc> Christian's ain't suppose to go out and party. He's no better then the rest of us.
<Tigre_blanc> (Matthew 4:5) Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
<Tigre_blanc> (Matthew 4:6) And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against
<Tigre_blanc> a stone.
<Tigre_blanc> The devil uses Scripture to deceive Christians.
<Tigre_blanc> You just got home from work on a Friday evening your neighbor is outside barbquing and he reaches in his cooler and pulls out a can
<Tigre_blanc> and says " Hey come over and have a drink with me" The devil then tells you "In the Bible, Paul said " And unto the Jews I became as a Jew,
<Tigre_blanc> that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
<Tigre_blanc> To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,)that I might gain them that are without law.
<Tigre_blanc> To the weak became I weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
<Tigre_blanc> And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.""(1 Corinthians 9:20-23) He then tells you, "See Paul took part in what
<Tigre_blanc> others were doing in order to talk to them about God so it's ok if you do it also"
<Tigre_blanc> The devil uses Scripture but he uses it out of context and twists it to suit his purpose. In the verses above (1 Corinthians 9:20-23) Paul didn't
<Tigre_blanc> partake in the sins of others, but he found something that they had in common that they could talk about.
<Tigre_blanc> (Matthew 4:8) Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of
<Tigre_blanc> the world, and the glory of them;
<Tigre_blanc> (Matthew 4:9) And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
<Tigre_blanc> The devil still uses this tactic, he says if you'll do this thing I'll give you this thing here.
<Tigre_blanc> You're at the mall and there's this girl or guy (depending on wherever you're a girl or guy) and you know that their not a Christian and they're giving
<Tigre_blanc> hints that they like you. The devil tells you " Go out with them....they'll make you happy"
<Tigre_blanc> Let's look at other ways that the devil deceives Christians
<Tigre_blanc> The so called church hierarchy
<Tigre_blanc> A lot of Christians are taught that if the pastor says something even if they think that it's way off in left field, it's true
<Tigre_blanc> because the pastor is closer to God then anyone else in the church and God tells him things that He doesn't tell
<Tigre_blanc> the rest of the church
<Tigre_blanc> There is no church hierarchy , just because a person is the pastor of a church doesn't mean they're any closer to God
<Tigre_blanc> then anyone else in the church.
<Tigre_blanc> (Galatians 3:28) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female:
<Tigre_blanc> for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
<Tigre_blanc> In God's eyes everyone is equal
<Tigre_blanc> (1 Corinthians 6:19) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
<Tigre_blanc> which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
<Tigre_blanc> If God is living in you you can't get any closer to God then that.
<Tigre_blanc> (2 Timothy 2:15) Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
<Tigre_blanc> dividing the word of truth.
<Tigre_blanc> A lot of Christians get deceived simplely because they don't know what the Bible says about a certain thing
<Tigre_blanc> or the context in which it's written.
<Tigre_blanc> ................
<Tigre_blanc> (2 Corinthians 11:14) And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
<Tigre_blanc> (2 Corinthians 11:15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
<Tigre_blanc> The devil doesn't come to you looking bad and scary and ugly, but looking like he's good and wants to help you.
