<Tigre_bianco> I: Jesus priesthood <Tigre_bianco> Jesus was a priest after the order of Melchisedec. <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 5:5) So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 5:6) As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 5:7) Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 5:8) Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; <Tigre_bianco> Hebrews 5:9) And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 5:10) Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. <Tigre_bianco> ................... <Tigre_bianco> II Who was Melchisedec? <Tigre_bianco> ...................... <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 7:1) For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 7:2) To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 7:3) Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. <Tigre_bianco> .................... <Tigre_bianco> III What is the difference between the Aaronic preisthood and the Melchisedec? <Tigre_bianco> ...................... <Tigre_bianco> (Numbers 35:25) And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil. <Tigre_bianco> The Aaronic priesthood was temporal or limited by time. <Tigre_bianco> A priest was only a priest while he was alive. <Tigre_bianco> when he died his tenure as a priest ended. <Tigre_bianco> ....................... <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 7:3) Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. <Tigre_bianco> ............ <Tigre_bianco> the Melchisedec priesthood is a continuous or eternal priesthood <Tigre_bianco> ................. <Tigre_bianco> IV Why was Jesus made a priest after the order of Melchisedec? <Tigre_bianco> ............ <Tigre_bianco> Jesus was made a priest after the order of Melchisedec to fulfill the <Tigre_bianco> (Matthew 5:17) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. <Tigre_bianco> .................. <Tigre_bianco> According to the Mosaic law only the priest could offer up a sacrifice to forgive the people of their sins. <Tigre_bianco> (Leviticus 4:33) And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay it for a sin offering in the place where they kill the burnt offering. <Tigre_bianco> (Leviticus 4:34) And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar: <Tigre_bianco> (Leviticus 4:35) And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD: and the priest shall make an atonement for his sin that he hath committed, and it shall be forgiven him. <Tigre_bianco> .............. <Tigre_bianco> Jesus offered Himself as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. <Tigre_bianco> ............. <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 9:26) For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 10:11) And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: <Tigre_bianco> (Hebrews 10:12) But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; <Tigre_bianco> ............. <Tigre_bianco> the law stated that only a priest could offer up a sacrifice to forgive the people of their sins <Tigre_bianco> Therefore only an eternal priest could offer up an eternal sacrifice
