Thumbs up Peach Ice Cream From the Johson's White House

I have the Pure and Simple: An In Circle Cook book
from Neiman Marcus

and in this cook is the best Peach Ice cream recipe on the planet
this is the notes and the recipe from the cook book. page 289

" If you were Lucky enough to be invited to a summer dinner party at the LBJ Ranch on the banks of the Pedernales River ,Chances are this would be the dessert. The former first lady says , "made with our stonewall peaches, this makes our favorite company dessert." If You're ever lucky, maybe she will let you turn the crank.

Recipe
1 quart heavy cream
1 pint milk
3 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 gallon of soft peaches peaches mashed
well mashed and well sweetened

directions
Make a boiled custard of the cream, milk , eggs and sugar when cooled add the peaches, this makes one gallon. of ice cream.
if you make 1/2 the recipe use 2 eggs, and a 1/4 gal of peaches1/2 qt of cream, 1/2 pt of milk 1/2 cup of sugar
you may also substitute strawberries for parches if peaches are not available.

Fgollow directions for making ice cream in your ice cream maker once you have made your custartd
and cooled it for several hours before placing in your ice cream maker. this is great for the 4th of July or a family reunion or any time when the family gets together... it is always a lot of fun to have home made ice cream.

I have made this recipe ever since I have gotten this cook book. I hope you and your family enjoy the Johnson's recipe, I know I have.
