@Shield> at this time I would like to turn it over to our all star leader, Bethel!

@Shield> Bethel?

peace-angel> Bethel yay

@Bethel> howdy everyone!

peace-angel> Howdy

@Bethel> Yes, I am from the south.....Wow, it is great to see you all tonight..

@Bethel> Last week we studied about Jesus calling four of his disciples to follow him

@Bethel> and be fishers of men

peace-angel> amen

@Bethel> this week we will study the healing miracles of Jesus

@Bethel> and also Jesus casting out demons

@Bethel> Our text tonight begins in Mark 1:21

@Bethel> 21 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.

@Bethel> Jesus is teaching in the synagogue on the Sabbath.

@Bethel> The synagogue is an educational institution.

@Bethel> Some modern Jews even call the synagogue a shul, which is the Yiddish word for school.

@Bethel> 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law

@Bethel> The Holy Spirit's anointing is difficult to describe: you can't define it; you can't see it; you just sense it on a person; you recognize it.

@Bethel> The people were amazed at Jesus' teaching because he taught them as one who had authority.

peace-angel> cool

@Bethel> When an anointed person speaks their words have power, because God is speaking through them.

@Bethel> So many times we sense the presence of the anointing in the Spiritled_Woman chatroom

@Bethel> especially when we are all in agreement in prayer

@Bethel> Christian leaders have also been given authority by God to lead.

@Bethel> One day they will have to account for their leadership-which is an awesome responsibility.

@Bethel> amen?

carol> amen

Disciple> Amen!

peace-angel> amen

GentleDove> amen

Flute> amen

Snapstur> amen

@Bethel> 23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out,

@Bethel> 24 "What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are-the Holy One of God!"

@Bethel> Note that the demon confessed that Jesus the Holy One of God

peace-angel> amen

@Bethel> What do you want with us?' the demon asked Jesus. Jesus wanted that demon out of the man.

@Bethel> Why do you think Jesus wanted that demon out of that man?

@Bethel> anyone?

peace-angel> To give him peace to show he was able to be without demon

Flute> So that he could be set free and be able to have peace

@Bethel> yes

Dacia> because he needed to be healed..

@Bethel> anyone else

@Bethel> yes

@Bethel> any other?

Flute> so that he too could be used for His kingdom

@Bethel> amen

Sillygirl> also to demonstrate His power over the demons

@Bethel> amen

Flute> because he bore witness to what the miracles of what Jesus did

@Bethel> these all so good

@Bethel> yes Flute

Flute> and Jesus knew this ahead of time

@Bethel> I better be on my toes tonight!

Flute> amen

peace-angel> amen

Flute> oops

GentleDove> amen

Flute> :o)

@Bethel> Jesus drove out demons to advance the Kingdom of God and He told his disciples to do the same.

carol> set Him free

@Bethel> yes carol

@Bethel> 25 "Be quiet!" said Jesus sternly. "Come out of him!"

@Bethel> No demon can come out of a person except by the power of the Holy Spirit and, when that happens, the kingdom of God is advancing and the kingdom of Satan is being driven back.

@Bethel> amen

@Bethel> 26 The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

@Bethel> Shriek means high-pitched tone--a loud sharp cry.

@Bethel> If what happened in that synagogue had happened in our own church, we'd probably have put the man out of the church.

@Bethel> right?

Flute> yes

GentleDove> yes

Dacia> right!

@Bethel> But Jesus didn't put the man out of the church, but He put the demon out of the man.

carol> right

@Bethel> Praise the Lord!

carol> amen

@Bethel> And He didn't take the man aside privately into a room to drive it out; he drove it out publicly in full view of everyone.

@Bethel> It must have been a dramatic event.

@Bethel> The Bible says that the spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

Dacia> praise God!

@Bethel> You'd have thought there would have been no one left in the synagogue after that, but what was the result?

@Bethel> what was the result? did the people leave?

Dacia> no they did not leave

@Bethel> no, They were all amazed at Jesus' authority.

Flute> amazed with his authority prolly

carol> they all recognized the power of God to do this

Flute> oops

@Bethel> 27 The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, "What is this? A new teaching-and with authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits and they obey him."

@Bethel> Instead of being frightened by what they saw, the people were amazed and greatly impressed, and news about Jesus spread quickly throughout the region.

@Bethel> Luke, the physician goes into more detail than Mark regarding Jesus' casting out demons.

@Bethel> We see in Luke 11:14 that when Jesus cast out a demon that was dumb, that person could speak

@Bethel> after the demon was gone. The person was made whole.

@Bethel> Completely healed!

carol> amen

@Bethel> Jesus expelled demons with simply His word. He used nothing else.

@Bethel> The Word of God is life!

@Bethel> 28 News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.

@Bethel> 29 As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.

@Bethel> 30 Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her.

@Bethel> Given today's medications we might not be too concerned to hear that one has a fever

@Bethel> but it could have been a very serious illness in the first century, especially if she had malaria

@Bethel> which was quite common around the marshy areas of Palestine, such as would have been found in the Galilee.

@Bethel> Luke, the physician wrote that she was in the grip of a major fever.

@Bethel> 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.

@Bethel> Even though Judaism forbad touching persons with certain kinds of fevers, that didn't stop Jesus.

@Bethel> not at all!

Dacia> wow..

@Bethel> Jesus healed her with a touch and a word.

peace-angel> WOW amen

@Bethel> Mark states that she immediately got up and began to wait on them and she was instantaneously and completely healed, and was able right away to serve them.

<Dacia> that’s instantaneous :)

@Bethel> What does this reveal about Jesus?

@Bethel> anyone?

@Bethel> yes

Flute> thinking

Dacia> he heals thoroughly .

GentleDove> He had power\ over all sicknesses

@Bethel> yes He does

@Bethel> even today

Flute> That he listens to his father and no one else no matter what man says
carol> Jesus is the master of every situation

Sillygirl> He has no prejudices

GentleDove> and casting out devils

Dacia> praise God for that, the master of every situation!!!

Dacia> I praise God for that

@Bethel> amen

GentleDove> Nothing is impossible for Jesus to do

@Bethel> With a word Jesus can rebuke a fever and heal at once.

carol> amen

@Bethel> Nothing is too hard for Him

Dacia> an nothing surprises Jesus! (our sins)

GentleDove> doesn't need any medicine

@Bethel> This will strengthen our faith, right?

Flute> Yes

Dacia> yes amen!!!

GentleDove> right

Flute> Not easy but yes

carol> yes amen

Dacia> you would think sooo anyway lol

@Bethel> He loves us, everyone of us

carol> amen

Dacia> WE love you God..we love you Jesus too..

peace-angel> Bethel to me it seems we are always faced with these things just in another way

GentleDove> Some might say that miracles like that don't happen today but they are wrong

Sillygirl> How does He decide who to heal?

Dacia> he just does :)

peace-angel> It is a miracle that we are all here together worshiping for all over the world

Dacia> he is the greatest power his decisions may not make sense to us but he knows what he's doing!

@Bethel> He tells us to have faith of the grain of a mustard seed

carol> amen

GentleDove> amazing really. Jesus knew about computers before they were ever thought about

peace-angel> amen

carol> Faith can move a mighty mountain

Dacia> amazing thought yeah

@Bethel> Just one, very sick woman. Jesus was just as caring and concerned for the one, as He was for the many, just as Jesus is always concerned for every ONE of us.

Flute> * <-------- this is bigger than a mustard seed

Dacia> lol flute

@Bethel> right on Flute

peace-angel looks at bethel and thinks what a miracle

@Bethel> Others asked Jesus to heal this woman. God respects intercession - praying on the behalf of Therefore let us be willing and ready to pray for others.

@Bethel> yes peace-angel I am a miracle....

@Bethel> After we experience a healing touch, we should go and serve Jesus (others).

peace-angel> sorry

@Bethel> And tell others what Jesus has done for us

carol> amen

@Bethel> testify of His healing power

@Bethel> 32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.

@Bethel> Word had gotten around

GentleDove> In 2000 God gave me a dream He was going to heal me in every area.

@Bethel> Once the Sabbath was over, the people flocked to Jesus with their sick and demon possessed to have Him heal them.

GentleDove> He is doing it gradually

@Bethel> They waited until the Sabbath was over so that they wouldn't violate the Pharisees' rules about carrying burdens on the Sabbath.

@Bethel> The Pharisees' rules were more of a burden to the people than the original intent of the Sabbath, which was to provide rest.

@Bethel> What better way to rest than to be healed by Jesus? To the Pharisees' rules were more important than people.

@Bethel> People are most important to Jesus!

@Bethel> 33 The whole town gathered at the door,

Disciple> Amen!

@Bethel> 34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

@Bethel> Psalms 91:11 "For He will order His angels to guard you wherever you go."

@Bethel> Hebrews 1:14 Are not all angels ministering spirits (our guardian angels) sent to serve those

@Bethel> We all have guardian angels.. thank you Jesus for your protection!

Dacia> yes jesus!Jesu!

GentleDove> yes Thank you Jesus

Sillygirl> but see.. none of this makes sense. I'm sorry

@Bethel> I will close with this verse. Never, ever forget this one....

Dacia> ok :)

@Bethel> Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

carol> amen

GentleDove> amen

Dacia> amen!

@Bethel> What He did for Peter's Mother-in-law and others he will do for every one of you!

@Bethel> amen

Dacia> amen!

Dacia> yes we stand in awe of you Lord Jesus!!!

@Bethel> I pray for my brothers and sisters who are here tonight that you would touch them

@Bethel> in every area of their lives.

samaria> sillygirl...it will one day, if you keeping seeking him...you will understand

Dacia> you are the KIng and my Master!!!!

Snapstur> Praise You Jesus

@Bethel> One might need healing, or a job, or finances, or feel

@Bethel> loneliness. Reassure them that you are right there with them.

carol> Yes father

GentleDove> yes Lord

@Bethel> Lord, no matter what their need is you are willing and able to fill their need.

Dacia> he will find you silly Girl! he created you after all ! Awesome God!
