BrianO> Heavenly Father, We come to you tonight to praise you and welcome you into our hearts.
BrianO> I pray that you will open our hearts and mind to the message that you will deliver through bethel tonight. BrianO> Lord, we do this all in your for your glory and to tell the lost people of the internet what the fire in our lives is all about BrianO> I ask that you be with those in need as you know the hearts of your children. Please keep us save and warm with your loving touch. BrianO> In your name we pray... BrianO> and all God's people said.... BrianO> AMEN :) @Bethel> amen pauly> amen White_Tiger_in_a_Corvette> Amen Snapstur> amen guaryanwolf> Amen! @Bethel> Thank you BrianO and thank you Shield for this opportunity Tigeress_blanc> amen @Bethel> Hello everyone! guaryanwolf> Blessings to thy @Bethel> So good to see you all. thank you for coming @Bethel> Tonight I will start with talking a little about families. @Bethel> We are all part of a family @Bethel> In our text tonight Jesus was confronted by his family @Bethel> Families are a bittersweet reality of life. @Bethel> There is no better place to receive unconditional love and care from one's family. @Bethel> It has been said, "Home is where they have to let you in when you want to go there." @Bethel> A family is a clan held together with the glue of love and the cement of mutual respect. @Bethel> they have the potential to hurt us the most. @Bethel> And, no family is perfect; some have more harmful brokenness than others. @Bethel> We will be looking at Mark where he recounts Jesus encountering trouble in His family. @Bethel> I know I have wonderful relationships with my church family. @Bethel> The stronger bond rests with one's spiritual family. @Bethel> Jesus says His disciples are His family. @Bethel> It is the same calling that every Christian receives-not to a specific vocation or mission field or ministry, but to the family of God and our responsibilities within those relationships. @Bethel> Our text begins with Mark 3:7 @Bethel> 7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed. @Bethel> The Sea of Galilee was also known as the lake. @Bethel> Why did Jesus withdraw from the crowd? Looking back at verse 6 it tells us that the authorities were after him, and it wasn't yet time for Him to be arrested. @Bethel> 8 When they heard all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon. @Bethel> The people had heard of Jesus' healings, and many traveled more than 100 miles from Galilee. @Bethel> They came to have their needs met-to be healed and to be delivered from demons. @Bethel> 9 Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. @Bethel> What do you notice about the crowd? @Bethel> anyone o/ Tigeress_blanc> o/ @Bethel> Tigeress_blanc Tigeress_blanc> they were willing to go to great lengths to follow Jesus @Bethel> yes @Bethel> It is very large @Bethel> Word has clearly gotten out @Bethel> Where did they all come from? Tigeress_blanc> o/ @Bethel> Tigeress_blanc Tigeress_blanc> all over @Bethel> yes can you name some of the towns? Sal_Manila> 0/ @Bethel> Sal_Manila Sal_Manila> many from Galilee dodi> o/ @Bethel> yes @Bethel> dodi Tigeress_blanc> o/ dodi> Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon. @Bethel> great dodi @Bethel> 10 For he had healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him. @Bethel> The people had heard of the miracles performed by Jesus. There were large crowds coming to receive from Him. @Bethel> Jesus was very popular with the crowds. When popularity rises-opposition rises! @Bethel> Let me repeat that. When popularity rises-opposition rises! @Bethel> We see a lot of that today with popular speakers. @Bethel> 11 Whenever the evil spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, "You are the Son of God." @Bethel> Evil spirits are invisible; you cannot see an evil spirit with a human eye, but they indwell people and they manifest their personalities through the people they indwell. @Bethel> They also have knowledge and they knew who Jesus was. @Bethel> As soon as the evil spirits saw Jesus, they took control of the people they indwelt and fell on the ground before him crying out, "You are the son of God." @Bethel> It must have been an amazing sight-seeing people falling prostrate before the Lord. @Bethel> James 2:19 tell us that "the devils also believe, and tremble." @Bethel> 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell who He was. @Bethel> Why do you think Jesus told the evil spirits not to tell who He was? @Bethel> anyone? o/ Tigeress_blanc> o/ @Bethel> Tigeress_blanc Tigeress_blanc> it was not time for him to be taken @Bethel> ok sarahw> o/ @Bethel> The demons presented two problems: @Bethel> not only were they telling people who Jesus was before he wanted them to know, they were doing it in a way that wasn't going to help Jesus. @Bethel> Demons were not reputable sources of information, and Jesus would not want people to base their faith in Him on what demons had said. @Bethel> The demons' statements would only lend more credence to the "Jesus serves Satan" theory, which the Pharisees tried to promote. @Bethel> 13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. @Bethel> 14 He appointed twelve-designating those apostles-which they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach. @Bethel> 15 and to have authority to drive out demons. @Bethel> What did Jesus appoint the 12 for? @Bethel> anyone? o/ pauly> o/ @Bethel> pauly pauly> to be with Him and preach as He sent them @Bethel> yes.. one more @Bethel> vs 15 pauly> get outta town devil @Bethel> I like that pauly @Bethel> get out of Dodge.... pauly> lol @Bethel> 16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter @Bethel> 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means Sons of Thunder @Bethel> 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alpheus, Thaddeus, Simon the Zealot @Bethel> 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. @Bethel> 20 Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. @Bethel> 21 When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind." @Bethel> Here is where the family thought Jesus was losing it. @Bethel> They did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah. @Bethel> Why do you think His family thought He was crazy? @Bethel> anyone /o @Bethel> ok @Bethel> He was just up on a mountain calling the 12. pauly> O/ @Bethel> pauly guaryanwolf> They were looking for a Ready-made King not a c Man of their own city pauly> people followed Him all over the place pauly> followed @Bethel> good answers pauly> He didn’t run them off @Bethel> They felt He was acting politically, when He appointed the 12. @Bethel> They were sure He was NOT the Messiah, so they think he is crazy. pauly> Mary knew @Bethel> yes Mary knew @Bethel> 22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons." @Bethel> Great miracles had taken place. People were healed. @Bethel> The multitude was amazed. @Bethel> Pharisees knew they must discredit it or they would lose their following. @Bethel> Accused Jesus of casting out demons by the ruler of the demons. @Bethel> This indicates they recognized the miracle and had to attribute it to some power beyond man. pauly> people still say that @Bethel> yes they do @Bethel> They did not want to attribute the miracle to God, however, because then they would have to admit that Jesus came from God or had the power of God. @Bethel> This is denying the truth in the presence of the facts. (People often do this today.) @Bethel> 23 So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? @Bethel> Jesus showed them how ridiculous their assertion was. @Bethel> If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. @Bethel> 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. @Bethel> amen? pauly> o yes White_Tiger_in_a_Corvette> Amen @Bethel> 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. @Bethel> Satan would not wage war on Satan. Tigeress_blanc> amen sarahw> amen pauly> devil is still going down! @Bethel> vs 24 was If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. @Bethel> sorry I left the ref. off. @Bethel> blushing pauly> hugs bethel, it’s ok @Bethel> yes the dumb devil is still going down @Bethel> 27 It is a fact that no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. @Bethel> He explains how his power was superior to that of satan, the "strong man." @Bethel> amen pauly> yes! @Bethel> "How can anyone enter the strong man's house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man?" @Bethel> 28 I tell you the truth; all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. @Bethel> "Blasphemy against the Son may be a temporary sin, for the one who commits it may be subsequently convinced of his error by the testimony of the Holy Spirit and become a believer (I Tim. 1:13). @Bethel> 29 Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." @Bethel> Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is in its nature an eternal sin, for if one rejects the evidence given by the Holy Spirit and ascribes it to satan, he rejects the only evidence upon which faith can be based; and without faith there is no forgiveness." @Bethel> The reason he cannot be forgiven is that they do not avail themselves to the forgiveness God offers. @Bethel> God offers forgiveness to all who asks @Bethel> If one falls so completely that one cannot bring himself to repent is to blaspheme the Spirit. @Bethel> 30 He said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit." @Bethel> These men went so far in their rejection of the clear evidence provided by the Spirit that they called God satan. @Bethel> Their words were indicative of the hardness of their hearts and their willful rejection. @Bethel> The scribes reject Jesus, say he's from satan, they will never go to Him for forgiveness. @Bethel> they are too proud @Bethel> Jesus has reached out to the scribes and the Pharisees-answered their questions. @Bethel> This is the good part.. @Bethel> It is very reasonable to say that if a Christian worries that he has blasphemed the Spirit, he probably hasn't, especially if one feels convicted for his sin. @Bethel> There are a lot of questions about this very subject @Bethel> If one feels conviction in his spirit, he has not blasphemed the Holy Spirit. @Bethel> If any of you wonder about this.... @Bethel> If you are such a person, and you are concerned about this issue, I encourage you to read and accept I John 1:7. @Bethel> Jesus is the one who forgives sin, one just needs to come to Him and ask for forgiveness. @Bethel> Let's go to the Lord in prayer. sarahw> 1john 1:9 @Bethel> Father, we give thanks for our Christian-chat family.
