Default How to handle diffcoult family

Councling happends in many parts of our lives. The councling for education, the councling before you become married and then there is concling you
need when you have a family member that is in need of medical attention and is in their 70's. The can some what live on their own but they are very demanding on everyones time in a way of demanded focused attention. This family member is also demanding to continually live in the past in such a way that would be TMI for anyone. This person drags up all of the abuse of the family , the deaths of the past and to rescue you from every positive thing that is shared for the point of control.
When involved in a marathon of this family member being in control of all conversation... the rest of the family is basically reduced to only this person thought feeling and emotion..
The information that is TMi is exstreamly selfish and difficult to deal with because you have to chose your words carefully because this is family and you can't be blunt about what you are dealing with. Being delicate as not to offend or hurt the feelings of the other person is a mine field.

The curb side diagnoses is depression and that this family member is in need of medication to handle the depression that was brought on by the past that this family member is continually talking about and living.
How to get the rest of the family who lives in and around this family member to get on board to see that this person needs medical care. This is the challenge. because they live in this environment all the time and may not see the need for change.
I I hope I could get some input because this is really stressful and we were only with this side of the family for 4 days..
This family member lives 4 states away from us so this is another challenge to this very strained situation.... I would like pastors input because this member of the family is in a place of leadership in their church and they are well known .
Thank you for the input...
