In response to the request for an explanation of how the forums actually are set up and work, I just played around with it until I got an idea of the structure of how they are set up.
I would say that the most helpful thing that I have found to help me understand how the threads and posts are set up is to change the display mode to “hybrid” 1.)First click on user CP at the top of the home page, then under “settings and options”, click “edit options” ( it is on the left of the screen) 2.)Next step is to scroll down to the area that is titled “thread display options”, click the drop down menu and select “hybrid” This option will place a tree-bar style display of the entire thread that you select from the forum page, it will allow you to respond to specific posts, and see how all posts in the thread relate to one another. This only works within threads, not on the main forum pages. Definitions A forum is the topic of discussion found on the main forum page – this is the page that comes up when you go to forums.christian-chat.net. These forums are chosen and added by administrators only. By selecting a forum from that list, you will see all of the sub-forums and threads within that Forum. Sub-forums are the exact same as the forums on the main page, with the exception of their location. Sub-forums are also chosen and added by administrators only. At that point you have the option to start a new thread or click on an existing thread and respond to any post within the forum. A thread is the beginning of a discussion within a forum. As a member, you are able to start a new thread by clicking the “new thread” button. A post is a response to a thread or another post within a thread. To post a response, simply click the “reply” button below the post you wish to respond to. For example, on the main page, if you click on the “Prayer” forum, the next page that comes up is a list of the threads within that forum. At the top of that page is also a list of sub-forums. These sub-forums are the same as the forums on the main page, only I have placed them under the domain of a main forum because they are related and to keep the main page from becoming overly cluttered. They are the exact same as the forums on the main page, with the exception of their location. If you wish to post a new thread or post in a sub-forum, simply click on the sub-forum, and follow the above instructions. As for help, I would say that weather you are just starting out on the forums, or are a moderator already, try to think of new ideas, questions, or discussions related to your forum, or any other forum, and toss them out there for us to ponder and respond to, I don’t feel that you need to be restricted to your own forum, feel free to start new threads wherever you feel led. Thank you for your encouragement and support, I really appreciate it, please pray for this ministry. We are all in this together. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas please feel free to contact me via email, private message here, or catch me in live chat at www.christian-chat.net..
